My name is Elaine (she/her). I am a Counselling Therapist (ACTA) and Certified Music Therapist (MTA). I have had the opportunity to work with people of all ages and abilities; from preschoolers, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, adults in ICU and neuro-rehab, as well as seniors in long term care.

I primarily work with clients who are looking for support for their mental health needs including, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, identity work as well as grief and loss. I also work with people going through periods of change and transition, or simply finding ways to use music more intentionally to improve overall wellness. In our sessions, we may talk, sing, improvise, write, and listen to music. No previous musical training or experience necessary, just willing to do something different.

As an active musician and therapist, I have a deep understanding of how music affects people in different ways. Your sessions will be personalized to meet your unique needs. I am also a second-generation Chinese-Canadian who was born in Canada and raised overseas, with a good understanding of navigating cultural nuances. I work primarily with a humanistic and strengths-based approach. I am also informed by CBT, DBT, SFT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, ASIST suicide prevention, Neurologic Music Therapy, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices.
